Sourcing

Essays, field notes, and dispatches are contributed by the Foundation's team and named guest authors. Every published essay carries a byline linking to a contributor page. When an essay draws on external work, the source is linked or cited inside the essay body.

AI-assisted features

The site uses AI in a few specific, disclosed places. Human review status is stated honestly.

• Podcast transcripts

  Auto-generated from episode audio using an automated speech-to-text model. Each transcript carries a visible "Machine-generated transcript — may contain errors" label. Not human-reviewed by default.

• Blog translations (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Simplified Chinese, Hindi)

  Translations are machine-generated from the English original and published across all six languages. Spot a translation issue? Write to Noah@worldhappiness.foundation and we will correct it in place.

• Ask the Foundation (retrieval assistant)

  Answers are grounded in retrieved passages from this site (essays, pages, podcast transcripts) with visible citations. If the retrieved context is thin, the assistant says so instead of guessing. It never invents facts, quotes, dates, or people.

• Search summaries and TL;DRs

  Short summaries beside search results are generated from the ranked page snippets shown on the same page. Not human-reviewed per query.

• Felicia — Meta Pets voice companion (ElevenLabs)

  On the Meta Pets page, an embedded ElevenLabs widget hosts "Felicia", an AI voice companion. Conversations are generated by a third-party voice model and are not scripted or human-reviewed. Voice audio is processed by ElevenLabs (see privacy notice).

Corrections

If you spot an error — a wrong date, a misattributed quote, a broken link, or a transcript mistake — write to us via the contact page. Corrections to essays are made in place; the dateModified stamp on the article is updated so search engines see the change.

What we do not publish

We do not publish invented quotes, fabricated events, made-up testimonials, or claims we can't source. When a page is waiting for real content, we mark it clearly (for example, "coming soon") rather than filling in placeholder people or numbers.
