This week
Within Level 3, a smaller circle is held: those who feel called to formal Lineage Holder commitment. Not all Level 3 graduates take this commitment, and the program does not expect them to. Becoming a Lineage Holder is a vocational discernment — recognizing that a part of one's life work is to carry, transmit, and protect this specific lineage's integrity for the next generation. This week, the discernment circle begins.
Contemplative practice of the week
The Lineage Discernment
Thirty minutes daily this week (and continuing across the remaining weeks until Week 35). Sit. Bring to mind the question: am I called to be a formal Lineage Holder of this lineage? Sit with the question. Watch what arises — fear, eagerness, resistance, longing, doubt, conviction. Do not try to answer. Let the answer arise on its own time. The discernment cannot be forced. Master discernments take weeks or months. The practice is the discernment. By the end of Movement III (Week 26) and certainly by Movement IV's closing, the answer will have arrived. Trust the unfolding.

- Begin the discernment of whether this commitment is yours.
- Recognize the commitment as separate from MCC graduation (you can graduate without being a Lineage Holder).
- Engage the discernment with your own practice and your relationship to the lineage's future.
- Honor the path of those who choose differently.
Session architecture
- Hour 1 — The Lineage Holder defined. Lead Instructor presents the Lineage Holder commitment in full — what it asks, what it offers, what it does not require, what it strictly does require.
- Hour 2 — The discernment opening. Each student names where they are in this discernment — drawn to it, considering it, not for me, not yet, undecided. Cohort holds the discernment.
- Hour 3 — The discernment deepening. For those drawn to it, deeper questions: What is your relationship to this lineage's future? What part of yourself would the commitment ask you to bring forward? What part would it ask you to set aside? What is your honest assessment of your readiness?
- Hour 4 — Movement and rest. The discernment is not concluded this week. It begins. Specific practices and prompts for the next several weeks of discernment are issued. The final discernment circle is at Week 35.

Reflection prompt
What is the question really asking me? Not yes/no — what underlying question does the discernment surface? When I sit with the question, what arises? Does it arise from witness or from ego? What would it cost me to take this commitment? What would it cost the lineage if I am called and decline? What would it cost me if I am not called and accept?
