Week 27 of 36

Performance Evaluation Preparation

ICF competency anchor: All eight competencies at MCC depth

90 min

This week

Movement IV begins the formal evaluation phase. Two performance evaluations at MCC standard are required for program graduation: one mid-Movement-IV and one in the closing retreat. This week is preparation — selecting the work to be submitted, refining it, calibrating against the MCC marker standard. The evaluations are stringent and rightly so. The MCC credential is the highest level of certification ICF offers, and the program holds itself to the same standard.

Contemplative practice of the week

The Performance Calibration

Twenty-five minutes daily. Sit. Then read aloud one MCC marker. Sit with it. Ask: what does this marker look like in my coaching at its best? What does it look like at my middle? What does it look like at my edge? Spend three minutes per marker (aim for 7-8 markers per practice; rotate through all eight competencies and all markers across the week). The practice trains the capacity to hold the marker standard while staying present. The two are not enemies if the practice has been done.

Learning objectives

  • Articulate the MCC marker standard in detail and locate yourself against it.
  • Select the recordings or live sessions to be submitted for the two evaluations.
  • Refine your coaching with attention to the markers without losing presence.
  • Develop the personal practice that prepares you for evaluation while keeping you present.
  • Receive cohort and faculty feedback on a sample session in detail.

Session architecture

  • Hour 1 — The MCC standard in detail. Lead Instructor walks through the MCC marker rubric in detail. Each marker is illustrated with examples of MCC-level execution and PCC-level execution.
  • Hour 2 — Self-calibration. Each student takes 30 minutes to assess their own current work against each of the markers. Where am I clearly MCC? Where am I PCC reaching toward MCC? Where am I still working?
  • Hour 3 — Sample session feedback. Three students each present one recent recording (or describe one recent session) for cohort and faculty feedback against the MCC marker rubric. Detailed and stringent.
  • Hour 4 — Continuing sample session feedback. The remaining students. Synthesis. Specific actions for each student in the next two weeks before the first performance evaluation.

Reading

  • ICF MCC Markers — full document, re-read with self-evaluation intention
  • ICF MCC Performance Evaluation requirements — full document
  • Sample MCC-level session transcripts (anonymized) for calibration
  • The Transpersonal Leader — chapters on evaluation as practice

Lineages at work

Coaching (anchor) — the MCC performance standard · Transpersonal — preparation without pre-determination · ICF — official MCC marker rubric

Milestone

MCC marker rubric internalized and self-evaluation completed. Two recordings or live sessions selected for the formal performance evaluations. Cohort and faculty feedback on sample session received and integrated. The Performance Calibration daily practice initiated. Specific work plan for the next two weeks established.

Reflection prompt

Where am I clearly MCC right now? Where am I close? Where am I still working? What is the next two weeks specifically asking of me before the first performance evaluation? How can I prepare without pre-determining?
