Week 36 of 36

Closing Transmission Retreat

ICF competency anchor: All eight competencies at MCC depth

90 min

This week

Week 36 is the closing transmission retreat — four days of integrated work that close the program and formally transmit the lineage to the cohort. Like the mid-program intensive, the closing retreat can be conducted in residence or fully online with the same architecture. The retreat is the program's culminating ritual. By the end, each student departs as a master coach within this lineage — credentialed, committed, and known.

Contemplative practice of the week

The Transmission Sit

The closing retreat's daily practice. Three formal sits per day plus the practicum-as-practice plus the eating-as-practice and walking-as-practice and silence-as-practice that the closing container holds. Specific transmission practices are issued day by day. Online retreat participants commit to the same phone-free, distraction-free container as the residential participants. The container is what makes the transmission real, regardless of the geography.

Learning objectives

  • Sustain the master container across four days of culminating practice.
  • Receive the final evaluation results.
  • Receive (for those due) the formal credentialing documentation.
  • Participate in the formal transmission ritual.
  • Depart from the program as a master coach within the lineage.

Session architecture

  • Day 1 — Re-entry into silence. Threshold practices. Receiving the cohort home into the closing container. Opening teaching. Silent dinner. Evening sit (90 minutes).
  • Day 2 — Final evaluation results received individually with faculty. Cohort circle — each student names where they arrive. Final integration teaching. Capstone progress shared. Evening: the master ROUSER deepening.
  • Day 3 — The transmission day. The faculty offers the formal lineage transmission to the cohort. Each student receives the transmission individually. The Lineage Holder commitments (made in Week 35) are formally witnessed and recorded. Capstone commitment ceremony.
  • Day 4 — The closing. Cohort circle — what each is taking forward. Final blessings. Departure. The retreat ends. The work continues.

Reading

  • No new reading. Re-reading at the cohort's discretion of any of the program's foundational texts.

Reflection prompt

What am I taking with me from this 36-week passage? What has been changed in me that cannot be undone? What is the lineage now asking of me that it could not ask at Week 1? What is my first commitment as a master coach within this lineage?
