World Happiness Foundation · Villages of Happiness
From one loom to 600 villages
Villages of Happiness grows peace ring by ring: from the weaver at the loom to her family, her neighbours and the whole village, then to clusters of villages, the district and the state. It begins in Rajasthan, in Manpura, and is designed to reach 600 villages.

The unit of change
Village
- What happens here
- The whole village walks a 12–18 month journey, from listening to flourishing.
- Who leads
- The village itself, with the Gram Panchayat, Gram Sabha and women's groups.
- What we measure
- The village's own happiness map: 8 layers of wellbeing and 7 domains of pain and trauma.
- How you can support here
- Fund a village's full 12–18 month journey. In the hamlets: train women's circle leaders.

Principles
How we walk with villages
Invitation, not intervention
Women at the centre, safely
Every hamlet, no one left out
Work with what already exists: panchayat, women's self-help groups, ASHA and Anganwadi, schools
Culture first: song, story, festival
Nothing taken away: findings return to the village first
Connected to Cities of Happiness
One diagnostic, from the city to the village
The same diagnostic that guides our Cities of Happiness, adapted to village life: 8 layers of wellbeing and the 7 domains of the Global Pain & Trauma Map.
