The seal

One standard. One seal.

The seal is awarded once, against all seven pillars — not staged into ranks. A center trains its staff, embeds the Before · Below · Between · Beyond protocol, measures its outcomes and keeps every commitment public. It is either held, or it is not.

Certified Mindful Diving Center™ — held by every center that meets the standard.

Founding

One of the first 100 centers: a lifetime honour, not a higher grade. Founding centers add an independent on-site audit and hold charter terms for life.

What it requires

  • At least one trained Mindful Dive Instructor™ on staff
  • The Before · Below · Between · Beyond protocol in daily operation
  • Participant measurement with validated instruments
  • Annual revalidation through The Current

The seal is awarded against all seven. Safety is never compensable by the others.

Safety & Excellence

Every practice sits inside the diver's existing agency standards and dive plan. Mindful pre-dive protocols, honest self-assessment and a no-pressure turnaround culture.

Mindful Experience

Breath, attention and intention frame every dive: grounding before entry, present-moment awareness below, structured reflection afterwards.

Instructor Wellbeing

Guides and instructors are the front line of safety. Centers commit to fair conditions, rest, burnout prevention and continuous wellbeing training.

Ocean Connection

Low-impact diving, buoyancy mastery, no-contact ethics, citizen science and a measurable contribution to local marine protection.

Inclusive briefings, psychological safety in the group, buddy culture built on trust, and welcome for divers of every background and ability.

Evidence & Impact

Wellbeing, stress and presence measured before and after programmes with validated instruments. Measured, not assumed.

Centers act as hubs of wellbeing in their community, applying the World Happiness Foundation's science of happiness to how they lead, teach and host.

Growth

One seal. Three growth levels.

There is one denomination — Certified Mindful Diving Center™ — with one fee, one renewal and one annual review. Inside it, three levels mark how deep the practice has grown. Levels are earned, never bought.

Seed

The practice planted. The seal is issued, the arc runs on ordinary dives, and your center appears on the Atlas.

Branch

Alive across the team. Certifications issued, FP20 sessions run, senior colleagues on staff, a first year behind you.

Reef

An ecosystem others shelter in. Many divers certified, research contributed, community hosted, another center mentored.

Founding status is independent of level: a Founding center can be Seed, Branch or Reef.

What does the seal include?

Award against the seven pillars, the Before · Below · Between · Beyond protocol, the measurement instruments, your center on the Institute's directory, and annual revalidation through The Current.

Do we have to renew every year?

Yes. Every seal is revalidated each year through The Current, an annual review of the seven pillars. Founding centers add an independent on-site audit as part of the charter.

Do we lose our agency affiliation?

No. Mindful Diving™ is complementary to, and independent of, SSI, PADI, CMAS and RAID.

What does it cost?

The published seal fee is €1,111 with a €555 annual renewal. Applying is free and carries no commitment until the Institute confirms your pathway.
